The Birthing Cottage of Winter Park, Inc. wishes to announce that after 40 years of dedicated service to women, babies, and families our beloved midwife, Alice B. Pillay, CMN. ARNP, is retiring. As Alice celebrates her 70th birthday and begins her retirement in August, she wishes to extend "a sincere thank you to all of the women and families for their patronage here at The Birthing Cottage. I have been touched and blessed by each and every one of you. Because of you, I have seen my dreams fulfilled."

Although Alice is retiring, rest assured The Birthing Cottage will continue to provide the high quality midwifery services you have come to know and expect these last 16 years. The new owners will be be Robyn Mattox, LM and Becky Erichsen of Inspiration Health. Our own dear Meg Folsom will be continuing on as a member of the new team, providing you continuity of care throughout the transition and beyond.

As Alice retires, so will her long time office manager, Barbara Edwards. For over twenty years, Alice and Barb have been working together to make a positive difference for women and families. Diana Cordona and Vanessa Young will each be moving on to new opportunities in their chosen fields. We thank them also for all of their loving contributions.

The Birthing Cottage of Winter Park, was founded in 1992 and is Central Florida’s longest established birth center. For nearly twenty years, The Birthing Cottage has been providing comprehensive prenatal, childbirth, postpartum, newborn and gynecologic services for women anticipating a healthy pregnancy and birth; all within our homelike, out of hospital setting. More than 1,000 babies have now been gently, safely, and lovingly born within our cozy cottage walls.

The Birthing Cottage believes every woman deserves prenatal care and an exceptional birth experience. We provide the safety of continuous one-on-one care of a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Registered Nurse, Medical Assistants, and highly trained Birth Assistants in our relaxed, cozy environment. A board certified OB/GYN is available on a 24-hour basis for consultation, referral or hospitalization if necessary. We strive to assist all clients with their questions and concerns, especially regarding insurance coverage, self pay options, and obtaining pregnancy medicaid coverage. In our commitment to assisting all women receive the appropriate care they need and desire, The Birthing Cottage will also refer and direct anyone with special considerations to the various resources available in the area.

The Birthing Cottage's strong foundation consists of the love, commitment, and safe, quality care that its owner, Alice B. Pillay, CNM/ARNP, and its dedicated staff have for and provide to the women and their families of this community.
